Thanks again Steve and Russell

How many watts (running amps) is the motor? What does it drive? Something with a lot of inertia? Why is there two of these circuits? two motors? Reversing? This is not obvious from the circuit. When does the circuit fail? Always on startup? . motor is 0.75KW, and drives variable load, Which has inertia but not huge. The two circuits are for two motors, other motor drives constant load is smaller in size 0.37KW(so little goes wrong with that motor) The cirucit mostly fails when motor kicks in which in startup. I imagine that BTA12 is already a big capacity triac but again I never know. Thanks for your input steve, I have noticed that in applicaiton note the snubbers are across pin 1 and 2 of triac as shown below and in my circuit the it is connected to pin 2 but not to pin 1, that is very strange, I wonder how this has been working for last 10 years without actually been battered by customers. regards Kaz |
