As Kai and Gopal have pointed out, some of these people have limited or expensive connection costs and may be just hoping that someone will answer their question quickly before they have to go offline. In most cases this forum will produce at least a response to most any post within a few minutes, so it would appear to be like a chat room. But I think for the most part, they realize it is not.
I do believe that there is not enough follow up after the problem is solved, like an explanation as to what actually solved it and a thank you. Some of that might be contributed to the fact that is was something simple e.g. "Did you check your connections?"... "Yes, I have three times", but they didn't and that was the real problem. I think I need to add that subject to the noob.pdf
