#116977 - just PC's Responding to: ???'s previous message |
In 1991, with the release of Windows 3.11, I read that there were 18 million PC's running Windows v3.x. A lot of businesses still stuck with DOS at that time ... I suspect the number's an order of magnitude or two greater than that now ... and those are PC's, not MAC's or LINUX boxes, or old VAXen, or PDP-whatevers, which seem to be gaining in popularity among retro-enthusiasts ...
Then there are those old 8-bitters that people don't use any longer but which they won't toss out. How many MCU's are in your monitor, or in that tape drive that you don't use for backup like you intended? Now ... what about those single-chippers we all love ... RE |
