#116454 - Try again Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I ask in advance for the forgiveness of the members of the forum. I have always tried to avoid addressing Charles' nonsense in the forum because it contributes nothing positive and I've been of the opinion that nothing is gained bickering with a member of the forum.
But please understand that you haven't seen the half of Charles' comments in the forum; he eventually started emailing me these same complaints and when I'd answer him politely, he'd inevitably respond in a childish--usually insulting--manner as if I had responded to him in an insulting manner. This has been going on for years. And, as I've said, I'm no longer in the mood to politely put up with his B.S. Charles, if you want to discuss this in public, let's go at it. I have nothing to hide. Charles Bannister said:
Craig, Erik and Steve. You don't like the message so you attack the messenger. No, the message is irrelevant, annoying, and baseless and, quite frankly, I tire of the messenger because he has been repeating the same irrelevant message for, what, 5+ years now? If the general members could see what is truly going on they wouldn't put up this situation for a New York second. What's "truly going on?" Wow, and I thought silly conspiracy theories were limited to U.S. and international politics. Reality check, Charles: This is a message forum, not a country. There are no geopolitical complications and ulterior motives. The forum was created for technical discussion and that's what it's been used for succesfully for coming up on a decade. There is no jockying for power like there is in the "real world" because, at the end of the day, the website is mine, period. I'm at no risk of losing "power" like politicians are in a democracy. As such, there is no motive for any of the nonsense that you suggest day after day, year after year. It's all in your mind, Charles. Look at this posting and see how many negative karma points it has generated. http://www.8052.com/forumchat/read.phtml?id=116317 Of course it generated negative points, Charles. The message was mostly useless, off-topic to the question of a robotics forum, and just a platform to launch your standard nonsense. People recognized that and scored your message accordingly. Neither Steve nor I scored that message, Charles. So, once again, it's your peers that are rating your messages negatively, not "the powers that be" or "the old boys club" or whatever it is you call it. Who do you think posted this negative karma points? Both of us don't know who really did this because the information is hidden from us by Craig. I am saying to Craig have an open and honest forum so that all members can see who said what and who posted karma points. I've participated in numerous forums that had a karma system. Not a single one made the voting information public. I am saying if this information were made available the truth would become known about the four trouble makers. You would see attack after attack over years. You would see they attack like they were bullies. The karma system (which is now no longer karma, but just message-scoring) is not to attack people, it's to express approval or disapproval of the content of a message. Keep in mind that not all your messages are scored negatively. If you posted a useful technical response and someone scored it as "Flame" or "Off-topic" or something then I'd give some credence to your allegations. As it is, I'm willing to bet that the negative scores your messages have received were probably justified by negative content. It certainly was in this thread. The other thing I think the forum needs in non censuring. When anything that is not liked it quickly get removed by Craig or Steve. I suspect others have input that eventually get things removed that they don't like. What are you talking about, Charles? What content of yours has been removed? I just looked through all the content that has been deleted in the last year or so and as best I can tell, the only content that was deleted was duplicate posts/threads that were deleted because it was duplicate, and some completely absurd, annoying posts by Jez Smith that had nothing to do with anything and which no-one cared about and were off-topic even for the General Chat forum. Nothing of yours was deleted. The last message I see of yours that was deleted was over 2 years ago, and that's because it was one of these nonsense off-topic messages in the main forum. Luckily, we now have this General Chat forum so we can move your nonsense here if you post it in the main forum. But, yes, off-topic messages WERE deleted before. It used to be the only way to keep people like you from taking threads off-topic in the forum. Now that we have the General Chat forum, off-topic threads are moved here. Threads are pretty much only closed if they drift off-topic. This isn't a political forum; it's not like Steve and I close threads or delete content because someone has a different technical solution than we do. That suggestion is just stupid, Charles. Regards, Craig Steiner |
