Most of what I have read has been that the IAR compilier is MUCH more efficient (with code density) than any other including GCC. I have a preference for Keil's front end since I've used it for the last 6-7 years.

When you tried IAR, did you find that the code was a bit more compact than using GCC with keil? Specifically what didn't you like about IAR?
