#108097 - Reliable or not ?
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi Dear U (I doubt if thats your name ?),
I have done some switching power supplies before. As Erik said going for a Non-Swithcher power supply would not be a good idea.
There are some projects on the net helping you to convert a very cheap ready made PC PSU (PC power supply) into a 13.8V (or whatever voltage you want between 12 to 14.8) supply capable of providing 16A continuous currents and up to 20A peak currents for some minutes.
Do a search on google for a term like this "convert PC power Supply" or visit websites like epanorama.com (look under power supply section)
here are the things that I just find on google :
http://www.webx.dk/oz2cpu/radios/psu-pc1.htm
http://www.epanorama.net/links/psu_computer.html

Note : Of course this would not make a reliable power supply and reliability would highly depend on your experience in the switching supplies.
But it wouldn't be that hard and it would work for yourself.
