all and every PS chip manufacturer has appnotes coning out the jing as well as the jang. Why not use those. I even recall some maxim appnotes with PCB layout included.

DO REMEMBER: "anyone I know can desing a switching PS, very few can make it work" (EMI, efficiency, heat). An engineer here spent 6 months to make a switcher to save the cost of a "storebought" one (we use 20.000 a year) and did not succeed.
