#184544 - 3.4 MHz I2C Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Ahh, got it. Kind of new to uC programming, but I'm very familiar with I2C and not so much SPI. I thought I just wasn't searching correctly for the high speed I2C, but it looks like nothing feasible exists.
Will look into SPI. Thanks. As Erik says, the fast SiLabs 8051s can do 3.4 MHz I2C. The I2C timing in those parts is set by a couple of registers, so there's no reason why you couldn't tweak it for the higher frequency operation. I haven't done it, because I don't have any I2C slaves that run that fast. SPI is simpler, in that you don't have to manage bus states (START, STOP, etc) but it's more than two wires. And it can go MUCH faster than I2C. -a |
