Apparently, the Actel SoftConsole uses an ancient version of sdcc -- 2.6.3 -- so I wonder if this issue has been addressed in a later version of the compiler? I'll open up a bug in the system regardless; it can always be marked as already solved. I can assure you this is not fixed in any recent version as I checked the source code. OK, good to know. I am looking at odd corner cases again, and as such I'm the only person who's come across this? It wouldn't be the first time. Maarten said:

Now to ask Actel why they use an ancient version of sdcc, and whether I can blithely install a newer one over their installation without the whole thing going to hell. I would wonder especially why they chose to distribute an intermediate snapshot instead of an official release. Very good question. I don't know if it was Actel's choice, or they're just using what CodeSourcery provided. I did open a tech support case with Actel, asking about why they still use such an old version of the compiler, when they'll provide a newer version, and what I can expect to stop working if I upgrade it myself. Their support sucks, so I'll get a non-answer. -a |
