the tip about sending lsb first
1/1200 delay for 1200baud rate
and sending 'U's first helped a lot

b.t.w. till what baud rate can i take it up to i was able to transmit at 1200 and 4800 but couldn't do 9600baud

bit its not over yet, i want to implement reception also so bear with me for some more time
