when talking of a Professional hardware, you need that the device must be plug and play. No, that does not follow at all! If it's Professional hardware, you should be able to expect the Professional users to be able to cope with configuring & using it correctly! What, exactly, do you expect this "plug and play" to give you? Are you still talking about your USB-to-Serial converter? http://www.8052.com/forum/read/182659 When you plug in a USB-to-Serial converter, it will be automatically detected by Windows - what more do you want? If you want Windows to automatically identify it as "Ghulam Mustafa's Device" (or whatever) then you will have to purchase your own Vendor & Product ID codes (VID & PID) from the USB authorities, and will have to custom-program your adaptor (having ensured that it supports custom programming), and will have to provice (at least) a custom .INF file to install your device - with, possibly, different versions for each different OS & version you choose to support. Are you really sure that you want to get into that - and that you are up to it? What's wrong with just picking the appropriate COM port from the list of available COM ports?! IF you really do want to pursue this, then you really should hire an appropriate consultant to assist you with it. |
