Trying to bit-bang at 100kHz gives you only 10 instruction cycles (typically 5 instrctions) per bit

These days I consider it silly to bit-bang I²C since there are derivatives with I²C hardware you can have for pennies. With I²C hardware achieving 100, even 400 kHz is a breeze.
