#181016 - SST controllers and IAP |
Hi everyone,
I work for a small company designing industrial control devices. I have been using the AT89C51RB2 for a while now but the PLcc44 package is getting harder to find and this is forcing me to move to the surface mount package, which in turn will require in system programming, something I have almost no experience with. I have used the AT89ISP with the 89S8253 but found the oscillator to be unreliable so I dropped it in favor of the 89c51rb2. I tried the FLIP software for the 89C but couldn't get it to even recognize the device. Now the incredibly high prices I'm seeing on the Atmel 8051 derivatives makes me think they're attempting to discourage using them hoping people will move on to new newer platforms (I hope I'm wrong about that). Because of this I'm looking at the SST89E58RD2 which uses IAP (in application programming). I would greatly appreciate any information anyone may have about using IAP or even SST controllers in general. I'm certainly not stuck on the SST device so any opinions or suggestions regarding other controllers would be appreciated as well. Thanks - Thomas |
