My interpretation of your requirements is that you need to generate a 4-20mA signal, but isolate it from the MCU. If that is your requirement then I would suggest powering a DAC, opamp and current generator from the 4-20mA terminals and I would put optoisolators between the MCU and the DAC. Choose a DAC with an SPI interface.
