#178015 - Really
Responding to: ???'s previous message
First:
You can not buy a typewriter today but you can see horses, even if they are pretty useless they are still around.
They as useful as dogs or golf clubs.

There are several reasons people donate to "Open Source"
1. They fall in love with the project an want it to succeed.
2. They they use the product and want to advance it.
3. They want to show off there awesome skills.

So you feel the future is a group of people will design stuff for other people because that is how it is done in the future. You will toss it a web address, but no work.
Lets take the example of Craig he liked 8052 CPU's He setup a website and paid for the address. It cost him time and money.

Look on "sourceforge" you will see a lot of abandoned protects. Just not enough interest. A web site to design a weighing scale? Be ready to keep the typewriter company.
Make you own Home CNC machines Yes
Nixie Tube Clocks Good
Rapid fire for XBox or PS3 Yes

It is all about the Business case. Yours seems week to me. But if you believe in it, do it. May successful people have proved the nay-says wrong. Post a link when it is up.
