#176985 - Chancy making a guess like this.

My guess is that it is impossible to both write to the flash and at the same time read from it to get the execution code. Can this mcu switch to execute from internal rom or ram at runtime? Can you execute maybe from external ram? I don't know your mcu but I think you're stuck.

Maarten

It is really rather chancy to make a guess that it is impossible. There was no specific information in the original posting as to what kind of external FLASH had been interfaced to the MCU. There are certain types of chips that permit reading from one block whilst programming or erasing another. There is also the distinct possibility that the OP built a circuit with multiple devices where one can be read and the other chip could undergo a programming operation. On top of all that there are FLASH types with certain special type boot blocks that can be enabled to support some types of non main stream operation.

So to even consider the question of "impossible?" and then to come out and say "you're stuck" is a wild guess.
