I would be very surprised if an assembler written in 1998 would need any changes over the subsequent 12 years. I believe the 8051 has been about since the 1980s.
the code seems to work fine, but how do you use undocumented code? Anyway, I thought that you always used the Keil tools! from my first post "I am, as previously posted, making a thing for someone insisting on free tools" anyhow, thanks to the suggestion of using C to get an assembler 'example' I have made some progress and am "banging away" trying some things.
