#175493 - Its becoming blurred
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Some people talk about firmware as the configuration data for FPGAs so a firmware writter in that context is doing FPGA/programable logic design work.Others talk about firmware as being software in embedded processors, the software that runs on your telly is firmware in that context.
The next stage as I was discussing with someone the other day is the growing use of tools like systemC which promise to convert your C program into VHDL, so then you have C programmers who know nothing about hardware design converting C firmware into VHDL firmware in some manner which they don't have much understanding of or control of, so there is a merging of everything together at the moment and I am not sure if anything good will come out of it.
