... is used in the SDCC project. It was adopted from a multi-purpose assembler, indeed; however, I don't believe anybody uses it as a standalone '51 assembler.

But the sample presented here bears all marks of intel-complying assembler. Metalink's will most probably assemble it with no problems, although if it would be intended for that one, it would have most probably $MOD51 or something similar as the first line, defining the "standard" register names; but that's not really that a big difference. As said above, macros are different from assembler to assembler; and so are some other directives - I often run into troubles with the conditional directives, too.
