Isn't that what stop bits are for, to give the receive additional time for processing?
the 9 'other' bits give you ~900us to process, the stop bit gives you an additional ~100us I hardly see how 10% extra will make a big difference. Of course, if you do not have a UART and do not employ a timer interrupt the stop bit gives you time to save the byte, but hardly "additional time for processing". Even with a properly designed 'soft UART' you can use (some of) the 900us as "additional time for processing" Erik |
