What kind of power, 1000kV, 2 mV, 20 fW, 200GW, AC, DC, intermittent, steady state, tolerance? What message lengths? What bit rate? What kind of conductor? What kind of insulation? How well protected from the environment?
Here in the U.S. it's possible to do that, as witnessed by the telephone company. As mentioned already, that would be a good place to start. You could use a phase-modulated AC signal, with phase changes +/- 2%, or perhaps that wouldn't work, depending on what the above parameters are. RE |
