Not that I know of, but I might have missed it. That is why I was asking.

The AT89 parts are still in active production, (as also are the even older ATF16V8/ATF22V10 SPLDs, as a guide)
I think Atmel more meant they will not release new variants, but there is no reason to not continue making parts customers are buying.

There is strong 8051 release activity in Asia, and Silabs have released recent EFM8 series parts.
