#184793 - dsPIC is a waste of time
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I have been working with dsPIC for over 7 years and now I'm convinced it is a peice of junk.
There are so many bugs with it that can not be tolerated like you have to issue a NOP after every bit change instruction.
I have wasted a month fiddling with its SPI to discover that the TBF flag does not work. Work around is to use RBF flag instead.
Also if you run it at full speed the chip gets overheated.
Reading the errata from microchip web site you will be horrified from the bugs they admit. You wonder why people use their devices. However I liked the PIC18 family, more stable than the dsPIC and with fewer bugs.
Pitty I wasted so much time with microchip and learned the hard way.
ARM is much more powerful lower power consumption higher speed and I'm converting now.
