I think it's unreasonable to expect ST FAEs to be experts in all toolchains - so this is probably down to the specific preference/experience of the particular people that you happen to have spoken to?
usually what tools you have is, regardless of your 'preference', what someone in the company decided should be it. It is, of course possible, that the ST FAEs have several toolsets. You mean, Keil does not have a built-in STM32 Checksum generator? Keil has facilities for you to provide your own "utilities" like this - so you aren't tied to the way they choose to do it. well, the IAR 'feature' produce a checksum identical to what the STM hardware produces,so you "are tied to the way they choose to do it" Is there some issue about using IAR rather than Keil? other than the aforementioned, I have gotten far better responses from IAR support than Keil support (both cases working at customers of multiple copies of the tools).
