These are just tools, and, to some extent, the serve a purpose. If you have a body of code that you simply want to move to another region of memory, a disassembled version might serve. It won't do all the work, but it will, for a simple task like that, help out.

How much additional help you can extract from a disassembled program is really up to you. No, you can't build a steak, but you can still exercise considerable flexibility, as I once did with a disassembled version of a debug monitor.

Frankly, I haven't used a "real" disassembler very often, but the one built into that disassembler, just as in the old MSDOS DEBUG, is quite handy.
