Just ignore the extra syllables that the military-industrial complex tends to insert in the interest of ostentation.
Words such as preventative came from there. Some of them have even found their way into the dictionary. My colleagues (decades ago, when I worked in that industry) made a banner that read, "An ounce of preventation is worth a pound of curativeness" in honor of that practice. RE |
