Without any pad/plane the LM1117's temperature will rise up to about 140K/W * 1.3W = 180K over ambient temperature!!! So, go for the TO220 package and mount it onto a proper heatsink. Look for another manufacturer of LM1117 to save cost. ST has a cheaper one, the LD1117. Kai Klaas |
