#183602 - LM 1117 SOT 223 - Heatsinking |
I need to heatsink LM 1117 to improve reliability. Currently, heat is on the border range. I do not have space for heatsinking pad/Plane on the PCB, and need to go vertical for heatsink. I was thinking of an M3 screw is mounted on the pcb pad, and a threaded vertical heatsink used for dissipation. The heat-sink compound should transfer the heat from the screw to the heatsink. Could some bod suggest a method where in I can use a readily available heatsink? (SOT223 heatsink is available, but expensive. I am trying to use SOT instead of TO220 to cut costs. LM 1117 TO220 costs 1.5 USD, but the SOT version costs 0.22 USD )
