Hi Michael,
Perhaps there is a misunderstanding because the "PCB manufacturer" will not require fiducials. The PCB manufacturer will drill pin holes for alignment. I think you are referring to the FAB house (the people that put parts on the PCB) requiring fiducials. To which I agree because I said fiducials are only required if you are machine placing SMD parts. "If all your parts are through-hole or if you are hand placing SMD components, then no fiducials are required." I'm thinking that this person could be building a prototype by hand and the PCB manufacturer is trying to be helpful and telling him that fiducials are required. Regards, Bert |
