#183120 - Frequency Control
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Variable frequency control for a PWM drive to a motor is not really usually needed. Normally you simply select a frequency that is fast enough so that it is above the audible hearing range (20 kHz). This consideration alone will usually place the frequency high enough that interaction with the commutation in the motor will not be a problem. Also do not select a frequency that is too high such that you loose efficiency due to switching losses. This occurs when the time to switch the drive FETs on and off starts to become a significant proportion of the total cycle time of the PWM waveform.
