Due to the bandwidth limitiations of USB 2.0, your notebook must run time-consuming compression algorithms. Because of that many vendors state that their USB-to-VGA adapter will have problems with 3D-applications. So, if your presenstation is not as fast as a video game, it could work, provided your notebook is fast enough...
