#180591 - Yes, it was clear that it was a link
Responding to: ???'s previous message
No, I didn't miss that it was a link.

I have read the anecdotes there, but did think you wanted us to post our own anectodes here on this site.

Funny when people do write anecdotes. Like the systems engineer with 30 years experience who makes fun of a application engineer with just 8 years experience, but doesn't know that bit fields are not standardiszed - and doesn't realize that standard portable shift/and/or code on an unsigned is basically the same thing as the code the compiler itself will insert - unless possibly if the processor has bit instructions.

An important thing is that people just have to be open to suggestions from other people. An engineer with 8 years in the field is more than up-to-speed. An engineer with 30 years in the field have to be prepared to spend quite a bit of private time just to keep up with changes introduced in the field. New technologies, architectures, debugging tools, ...

A "noob" may ask funny questions because of lack of experience. But people who are new to the field should be just as bright as people with 20 years experience, and shouldn't be ignored. And if they are lucky, they may have had a really brilliant teacher, allowing them to bring in a lot of new ideas.
