#180533 - Sibling concept MTTR Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Just a footnote. There is another term MTTR - Meat Time To Repair - that tries to guestimate how long time it takes to fix a product/service when it fails.
So the availability of a service is controlled by the MTBF (how often if fails) and the MTTR (how fast it gets back working again). This concept can be used not just for mechanical/electric products but for services. You may consider your grocery shop. How long is the time between unscheduled "close" notices? And if they have to close the shop because of sickness, clean up after a fire etc - what is the average time to get the grocery shop to open again? |
