#179916 - Voltage outputs
Responding to: ???'s previous message

I have a need to interface a signal conditioner output to a analog input. And the client happens to supply the signal conditioner with the simple instruction that it can supply 0-10V for a strain gauge input of 0-20mV. No more printed or other data sheet available as of now.

So it has a voltage output and should have an output impedance way less than 1k. Check it as recommended by Oliver.

By the way, settling time might be your least problem. Much more important is, that the output impedance forms a voltage divider with the input impedance of your data acquisition system. Even cabling can be a problem. Only very high input impedances are free from these problems, but heavily suffer from EMI, on the other hand. That's why 4-20mA outputs are widely used in industrie: Voltage drops on the cables and cable lengths don't play any role. At the same time the input impedance of data acquisition system can be very low.
