Many times for the "insulating sheet" application such as shielding the back sides of eval boards you can easily use single side clad PC board material. Indeed - or even sheet metal, as Richard noted. Sometimes when I need a piece of FR4 that is completely copperless I take to peeling the copper off the single side clad board. It is relatively easy to get under the edge of the copper laminate with an XActo blade and peel it off the FR4 with a pair of pliers. Yes, I've done that in the past. Heating it also helps... I have also found many walk in "surplus electronics" type stores that sell trim scraps from some near by PC fab shop. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any of those over here in years. :-( There used to be loads along the Tottenham Court Road - but they were all HiFi/Video and/or PC stuff the last time I looked. :-( |
