Anyone ever come across a port of ChaN's FatFs for an 8051?
http://elm-chan.org/fsw/ff/00index_e.html How about this one: http://www.8052.com/forum/read/148099 Is that a sensible thing to want? That depends on why you want it! It is, of course, possible to just use the medium "raw" without any file system - which should make your embedded implementation simpler. However, having a standard filesystem like FAT can certainly make your overall development a lot easier - because you can then read & write the files on any PC without any special software. ...and specifically for the ever-helpful Andy Neil Flattery, eh?! Andy, I've read a message at 8052.com that said something about your having used ChaN's FatFs with "nearly no effort at all". Yes, I hink I did write that - but I can't get the 'Search' on this site to find it again! :-( Do you mind me please asking you whether that was on an 8051? No, it wasn't - it was an ARM (Cortex-M3, and also this.) how would you rate the difficulty of porting this I barely had to touch the actual filesystem stuff at all - it was just a matter of providing the low-level SPI driver for the SD-Card. |
