#176974 - Asking the wrong people
Responding to: ???'s previous message

I posted the same query in the avrfreaks and no one is giving the proper reason.

Because, presumably, your suppliers don't frequent that forum, and/or don't discuss their pricing in public forums.

Have you actually asked your suppliers?

Have you actually asked Atmel?

Most of the dudes point out onlinestores like mouser that they are having stocks in 1000's. The price of such stores is very high compared to my whole sale agent. They may be useful for hobby people.

And did you specify that you are not a "hobby person"?
If you didn't specify it, how were they supposed to know?!

I normally use ATMega8 and ATMega16

You are using old, superseded parts - so it is only to be expected that prices will rise and lead times will lengthen as the remaining stocks dwindle!

i should had selected more than a manufacturer

Actually, you should have paid attention to the parts going obsolete.
