#176938 - Mixing with keyboard/mouse protocols? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Just a footnote - are your brother maybe thinking about the electrical interface between a (non-USB) keyboard and the computer? This interface is often used by microcontrollers. And some keyboards or mouses have a dual-protcol interface where they may also support USB - so the adapter between USB and PS/2 connector is just a dumb adapter and the mouse or keyboard autodetects if it is connected to a USB host or not.
You can find a lot of information about how to interface with the PS/2 mouse/keyboard connectors or with the older 5-pin DIN connector of PC/AT computers. And the PS/2 connector have 5V that doesn't require any negotiation before use. |
