Your posting suggested that you could not see the advantage of the circuit posted in the EDN design idea. In fact you suggested a posting to point out what the advantages were.
The fact that you think the suggestion is overkill for many designs really has little to do with understanding the advantages of the published circuit. There are many other examples in electronics and engineering similar to this where it takes extra work, components, cost and board space to solve certain problems. One should be open minded about learning about special techniques and design ideas used to solve such problems because one day we may very well need just that in a project we are working on. On the other hand if you discount the idea and blow away the sparrow with the RPG all you will be left with is a big hole in the ground!! Michael Karas |
