#173439 - 8052 tools on Linux
Responding to: ???'s previous message
haven't tried any of these, just FYI, here are some packages available under Debian (the parent distribution of Ubuntu, which is the parent distribution of Linux Mint):

the Debian package manager (Synaptic) shows the following packages available when searching for 8051:

emu8051 - Emulator and simulator for 8051 microcontrollers
s51dude - In-System Programmer for 8051 MCUs using usbtiny
as31 - Intel 8031/8051 assembler
dis51 - Disassembler for 8051 code in Intel Hex format
cycfx2prog - Cypress EZ-USB FX2 (LP) programmer

and this package, when searching for 8052:

d52 - Disassembler for 8052, 8048/8041, and Z80/8080/8085 code

and 400 packages when searching for embedded, i won't list them but a lot of them (maybe most) are not related to embedded programming;

and 8 packages when searching sdcc, including the compiler itself, documentation, and a simulator,

and 87 packages when clicking on the "Electronics (Universe)" category, including various CAD, verilog, simulator, compiler, and EDA tools, and a program to control USB foam dart launchers (pyrocket).
