#172208 - We get that much here several times each year. Responding to: ???'s previous message |
We already have had a couple of snowstorms in which more than that was deposited here in Denver, and it's snowing once again right now. We don't even pay much attention until there's more than 40-50 cm of it. We don't see a meter of snow very often, but half-a-meter isn't so uncommon.
Back when I was a boy, it snowed on Labor Day (1st Monday in September) which happened to fall on my birthday. I'd gotten a tennis racquet as a gift, and my doubles partner and I were determined to give it a try. We hauled our snow shovels to the tennis court and proceeded to remove the nominally 20 inches of snow from one of the courts. I suppose it looked odd to the passers-by, as, by the time we were finished, the sun was shining, the temperature was up around 20C, and snow was melting very rapidly in the streets, yet we were playing on a dry court. I guess that much snow isn't so commonplace for you folks in Britain. RE |
