#169677 - Yes I do find it funny Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I browse this forum in unified view, where 8052 Forum and Chat Board posts are interleaved.
I do find it funny that I thought the H/W icon to the left of the thread was an indication that the board had introduced a new forum about general hardware, just as the Chat Board threads have an extra icon. I just didn't recognize the H/W icon for the simple reason that it is so seldom used. Seems like Andy has also mistaken the meaning of that icon at an earlier time. So you had to assume that my post was one of the old mens of the club having fun at yet one other student who did request help with his school assignment? Wouldn't that imply that you are close minded? Very sad... If we ignore the original reason for this post - that I would actually like this forum to add a separate forum for more general hw just to keep it alive despite the decline of 8051-specific discussions - I do not think that there are stupid questions. I'm of the view that the only stupid question is the question that isn't asked. But there is a huge difference between asking a noobish question, and requesting web forums to perform the school assignments. What would be called cheating if done in a school corridor somewhere is just as much cheating if performed through a web forum. Technology may change, but the concepts are still the same. And yes, I have spent some time as assistant, helping people during EE and sw courses at the local university. Kai said:
Oh yes, you are so right, with what you say and think and believe, but a bit too right. You have so much experience and knowledge that you crush everything to death. If you ever look in a thread where the OP do ask a general question that isn't of the form "do my work", you will find that any responses I do are very much describing how to solve the problem or what to think about when solving the problem. But the thing is that I normally tell people what to do in a step-by-step description, and why they need the different steps. I do not post 50 lines of source code to copy/paste. Not giving people ready-to-use source code can never be seen as "crushing" people. If I ask someone "what does the datasheet say about status bit xx?" I do not crush anyone - I give them a hint what to look for, since the aim must be that people learn and understand what they are doing. I don't want a world where everyone is pressing three buttons in a magic sequence just because they saw someone else press the tree buttons in sequence. Sorry, but if you feel that such a view is "crusing", then I can not agree with your view of the world. |
