#168039 - Microsoft's .NET Micro Framework Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Grant Beattie said:
hopefully one day you can explain this:
"USBizi-DevSys™ is the smallest (2.2x2.2 inches) and lowest cost development system for Microsoft's .NET Micro Framework." What do you want explaining? The ".net Framework" is Microsoft's "managed" thingy for code execution on a "virtual machine". A bit like Java. It means that the code doesn't need to worry about the trifling details of the system it's actually running on - all it sees is its cosy little .net world. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.NET_Framework The .net micro Framework is a cut-down version for running on "small" (sic) embedded systems - although, clearly, Microsoft's idea of what constitutes "small" is somewhat different to that of most people here... Richard would love it! (not!) See: http://www.microsoft.com/netmf/default.mspx How long the USBizi-DevSys remains the "smallest" and the "lowest cost" remains to be seen... |
