Most green lasers that I know of use a non-linear crystal to double a 1086nm IR beam to generate a 532nm second harmonic (which is green). The IR filter does more than filter out the IR, and taking it out will probably mis-align the laser to the point where it is broken. If youhaven't broken it, then it will emit dangerous levels of IR as the 1086nm fundamental is much stronger than the green harmonic. IR lasers are the most dangerous types, as they can blind you and you can't see the beam |
