Laser light is fairly monochromatic. I would assume that a green
laster pointer _only_ outputs green laser light, and that the IR filter is there to prevent stray IR light from leaving the device and possibly confusing IR receivers. Or maybe it's just a weird safety thing, to make sure that no IR light (laser or not) ever leaves the device. IR laser light could still cause eye damage, but doesn't trigger they eyes protective reflex like visible laser light would. |
