Yes... it is possible. You can achieve a 2400 baud rate using a 6 Mhz crystal on an 89C51. Using timer 1 in mode 2, setting SMOD = 1, and using a reload value of 0xF3, you can get to within 0.2% As Andy pointed out, there are web utilities that can assist you with calculating baud rates based on system crystal frequency, like the one here at keil.com: http://www.keil.com/c51/baudrate.asp best of luck, Dave PS.
