#159455 - Why use a "commercial" revision control system? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
What more does a commercial SVC software like Vault or Perforce do beyond the above practices FOR A TWO MEMBER TEAM of code developers as I mentioned above ?
Using _any_ revision control system is better than doing things "by hand". It's much easier to compare different versions, for example, to find out when that nasty bug crept in. Even if you're just ONE developer working on a project, having a revision control system in place is a boon. That said, is there a reason why you are not considering using a "non-commercial" (free software) revision control system? There's plenty of them out there, and they are used for large projects. No need to shell out hundreds of dollars if all you need is a simple revision control system. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comp...l_software |
