#156722 - Look at the parts list? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Who sets the standards for schematic symbols? isn't there a body like IEEE or something?
looks like there is no standard, some people draw capacitor with curved line and others with straight line. In Europe and Australia it's the IEEE. I don't care for their symbols much personaly... I prefer the american ones, especialy when it comes to logic gates. If it was left to me I would make the symbol for the capacitor representing its type, like one for ciramic capacitor, other for electrolytic and different symbol for tantalum etc... Isn't that what the parts list is for? Most circuits I look at do use a different symbol for electrolytic capacitors, and that's about as far as anyone would need to go. Really, there's not such a vast difference between, say, a polyester cap and a polypropylene cap which would make one an unsuitable substitute for the other in the majority of cases. If the part is 'special' or safty critical then it's usualy marked on the diagram too, at least in my experience. |

Jon where was this connected? that you show here | 01/01/70 00:00
Electrolytic is my vote | 01/01/70 00:00
Looks like a thing... | 01/01/70 00:00
OK, but I'm sure it's an electrolytic | 01/01/70 00:00
bootstrap capacitor | 01/01/70 00:00
So why the shading? | 01/01/70 00:00
You are absolutely right... | 01/01/70 00:00
I believe it's a cap... | 01/01/70 00:00
Isn't it supposed to denote... | 01/01/70 00:00
Your symbol is rather small ... but ... | 01/01/70 00:00
No - it's definitely some sort of capacitor | 01/01/70 00:00
They surely do look like that, don\'t they? | 01/01/70 00:00
I don\'t think so. | 01/01/70 00:00
You're right ... I don't see what you see | 01/01/70 00:00
Hey Jon, look at this .... | 01/01/70 00:00
Still doesn't answer... | 01/01/70 00:00
it's japanese | 01/01/70 00:00
