I'm apparently ready/eager to move to / work in the States. Well, I kinda have to. It's a long story.

Sory to hear that Payam. Hope all your problems get solved soon.
Isn't it easy to get imigration to Canada, Australia, Newzeland, Sweden, the UK etc? I think they have points system.
You can also apply to the green card lottery, who knows you might win.
If you are despirate, go to the embassies and apply, explain your situation and I'm sure they will understand and help.
In my opinion, most people think that it is always greener on the other side of the river. When I was young (early twenties till mid 30s) I was disperate to go outside the country to live and work. I worked in south africa for 1 year in 2001 which was great experience. Now when I leave jordan for more than a week I feel like a fish taken out of the water. Not because Jordan is great or people are wonderfull, it is just I need the stability, have my family and friends around.
Now I retired and started my own company in Jordan, designing machine controllers, LED signs, repair of CNC machines and circuit cards. I got lots of tenders and I'm really having a good time enjoying my work and freedom.
Whenever I feel depressed I travel outside the country for few days and things get back to tracks.
You are welcome to come to Jordan for holiday, u can stay with me for I live alone.
Mahmood
