#155561 - Tax People, IRS, .....
Responding to: ???'s previous message

Oh, my goodness. After reading some of the replies and realizing that any idiom used will probably confuse someone residing somewhere in the world...

Perhaps:

"The Tax people may not require us to invoice you and therefore collect taxes on this product if we declare the consignment as free samples."

In the USA you would replace "the tax people" with "the IRS". (Internal Revenue Service)

Its customs in fact ,not the IRS . Can the idiom be used here , or it should be more appropriate to use exempt? .

Where do you use 'let off ' and in what sense . Is it used by Judiciary more?

Thank you.
